Sophie Lévy Burton is an artist, writer and editor. In 2019 she founded the arts magazine MONK exploring the hinterlands between creativity and consciousness. As a child she always painted but gradually lost the creative fire when she went to university, reading theology at Cambridge. In her 40s she felt a calling back to painting. Her influences include Gillian Ayres, Joan Mitchell, Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning. She is currently writing a memoir about her transformative journey through the psychic-lands of abstract painting.
